This video request is from Rehma Aziz – she asked a great question, which was “why do we feel anxiety?”

So in this video I explore that topic, and have a good old root around in my messed up psyche! Enjoy!

CORRECTION – Rehma is not a gentleman…she’s a gentle…er, lady! I’m just an idiot as per usual. Sorry about that, but thanks again, Rehma – keep em’ coming my friends!

Anxiety is good to a certain extent. It’s a motivator. What sucks is when I can’t control it – when I get so anxious that I second guess everything, which can make me lose focus and freeze up so I can’t function … That’s just my experience …

Hahaha Thank You! i never had someone made a video about my thoughts so yeah I feel a little ‘anxious’ and for accepting my video request. Right now I think people are mostly conscious and anxious so easily which kinda makes you wonder why?
You pretty much made sense the need of being one and how to deal with it and when exactly to be one. So make it okay to be crazy and anxious at that same time which makes it normal to go on with life. So yeah, will start to ‘live in The moment’ a little bit more from now on.
Although there’s a moment you thought I am gentleman while I am actually Woman but that’s alright. Let them think that.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY (belated) keep making these more . You’ve done a great job 🙂

Nah it’s alright. I really appreciate your work . Plus giving people moment of doubts is funny to me to whoever think I am man. Inside jokes are lame-ishly epic for me. 😛

That’s awesome, John! Are you talking about you or about me??? I was exactly at the same place. But you got the clue a lot earlier than I did. Wonderful statement, John, wonderful! The only thing versus anxiety is facing it! Nobody can solve that for us. We must prove to ourselves that there is nothing to fear about!

Oh really! I don’t want to say that it’s great, but it’s nice to know I’m not alone in such weirdly heightened anxiousness!

Absolutely not. I did face some fears in earlier ages, when it came to singing (because I wanted it). But other stuff like flying, spyders, talking to people (really the same things) I started to dissolve in my later 30s.

happy late birthday …so sorry…great video I did enjoy it and with my anxiety if it gets bad I turn the radio on and blast it while cleaning to take he focus off of the negative or try to find the source of my problem and try to deal with it head on…many times it has hit me like a brick and not get anything done. I just try to breath through it and focus and usually it will pass….again thank you for the video and again happy late birthday..it is always a pleasure to visit your blog and videos…Suzette

I love this post. I experience a lot of anxiety and everything you mention here is great advice! I will be teaching my first lesson next week and I’m SUPER anxious. What if I cant control the students? What if I’m super boring? But I’m going to try my best and just do it! Maybe it’s not so scary? 😉

I’m glad you liked it, and you will be fine! The best advice I can give on that matter is just to plan, plan, plan…factor in certain inevitable digressions that are natural in the classroom ~ if you are well prepared you will more confident, and more in control. Sure your students will love you.

Well done. Good advice. (You DO know that Public Speaking is the 2nd worst fear next to Flying. Other statistics say it is 2nd to Death.) 🙂

haha! I hate it! I really do ~ trying to push past it because I know it’s a silly thing. But still!

Also, you mentioned Plan. Plan is akin to Preparedness, and I underscore that. It is the key to confidence in public speaking, or any other setting.
