She’s my new favourite for sure š The incident still sucks, especially as it is still all a little up in the air – but you know, it’ll be alright in the end! š
Oh – quick one, as I’ve always wondered. Is your name pronounced “Ger” (like my brother Gerard) then “aint”? Or is there a strange unexpected pronunciation twist somewhere?
Exactly Aidan š I’m sure through your studies you have had many “banging head against a brick wall” moments – when you know people will just never understand anything outside of their pre-set ignorance. It’s a massive shame. But yes, there is hope!
Awwww š congratulations! You are obviously doing a great job, and people can see that and appreciate it. Keep your chin up, people will come around. And even if they don’t, it seems like you still have other people in your corner š as well as other bloggers!
This is right what I thought when you talk and write about your work. I am so happy you got that appreciation. Don’t worry about other voices at times. āŗ
This is just what you needed. At least you know you are doing a great job, and that some people appreciate your efforts. You tried your best with the other little girl; so don’t feel bad.
haha! It seriously is! Just a little thing, but was a huge deal for me! š
Oh, and thank you – it’s weird because of course it is easier for me if she isn’t there…but then in a way I wanted to turn the situation around, and have her happy/settled in class. Never mind I guess (although she could come strolling in any day I suppose, haha!)
Good advice for John. Read my next posting “Women and Beer First” if you want to know more about challenging relationships. Fiction and humour of course. But packed with half-truths from personal struggles.
Thanks for the kudos edwina. Read my next posting on titled Smart Dogs, Dumb Owners and Jokes. I am new to blogging and am currently trying to build loyal followers who appreciate humor, satire and fiction. If you could spread my name among friends, would be much appreciated.
That was cute, a bit sad the girl didnĀ“t come back but you sure seem to be a cool competent teacher. If they donĀ“t see the video of you singing that is…. š
Little notes like that are like gold dust to a teacher – so precious and valuable – yet often few and far between. Well done Angela’s mum for writing in, and congratulations on clearly being an excellent teacher. I have treasured mine and kept them – those are the notes that keep you going.
Yay! Hopefully news will spread of your teaching and the mother of the crying girl will rethink. Or maybe it’s for the best. Who knows. But keep on doing what your doing! Looks like it’s working!
Thank youuu! Well, it’s just the usual fun and games with the others, they are doing great! Perhaps Angela’s Mother heard about the situation, who knows…but yes, I’m totally treasuring this sweet little note! š
The old cliche…”You can’t win them all” really works when it comes to teaching. That was a hard lesson for me to learn. Even when they are little, they have personalities that are unique. Do the best “you”, and you will always come out ahead. Enjoy the small successes, and forget the ones you may lose. āŗ
Perhaps the note-writer Hannah had seen your blog? or else Angela relayed the incident with the crying girl & her mother. Wouldn’t it be nice if Hannah had a chat with the other mother . .I think that would have more influence in changing her her view than anything else.
It’s too bad. But you can’t please everyone.

Hey John. Ger, hard G, rhymes with bear, care, air, stare. Aint, pronounced like pint! But Ger is fine.

It is a shame that the crying girl’s mother is so ignorant. But this letter, these are the kinds of things which give us hope. =)

Well it just shows your dedication, the fact that you wanted her to settle in. It is a shame for both of you that it didn’t work out, but you did try.
